Most everyone knows why we celebrate Independence Day, but not many people know these fun facts about the Fourth of July:

  • Americans eat roughly 155 million hot dogs on the Fourth of July each year.
  • Certain European countries celebrate the Fourth of July to attract tourists.
  • John Hancock and Charles Thomson were the only two men that signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. (The rest signed it one month later.)
  • One American president was born on July 4, and three American presidents have died on July 4.
  • President John Adams wanted to celebrate Independence Day on July 2, not July 4.
